MBLL Bargaining Update

Hi Everyone,

I would like to give an update on bargaining. We do not have dates set and will probably not start negotiations till the fall/early winter. There are a few reasons for the delay, and keep in mind it is not unusual for us to be delayed. MBLL is currently negotiating with Teamsters Surveillance, still have MGEU F&B & Liquor and are on a pause with CUPE Admin.

Update on investigation into breach of Constitution

Dear members,

On Wednesday, the Unifor leadership team provided an update on the National Executive Board’s (NEB) review of an independent external investigation regarding a complaint that former National President Jerry Dias violated the union’s Constitution.

The findings of the investigation are deeply disappointing and disturbing. We understand the outrage that many of you feel. We share that outrage too.

OAKVILLE—Wage increases and job security are the highlights of the new collective agreement ratified today by Unifor Local 1256 members, ending their two-week strike at Oakville Transit.

“My congratulations to Oakville transit workers for standing up to the employer to win gains that will improve working conditions and benefits,” said Lana Payne, Unifor National Secretary-Treasurer.

Transit service in the region will resume on Friday, March 4, 2022.

Oakville transit operators begin strike action

“Front line workers have served with distinction during the pandemic and have earned a fair contract,” said Tim Mitchell, Unifor National Representative.

Our former National Representative Len Olafson has retired, we wish him the best in retirement and thank him for all of his guidance and hard work servicing the operations group since 2010.
